On This Day
In 1970, guitar visionary Jimi Hendrix hosted the grand opening party for his state-of-the-art recording facility, Electric Lady Studios, in New York’s Greenwich Village. Designed to offer him complete creative freedom away from expensive commercial studio clock rates, the innovative, custom-built space would go on to host legendary recording sessions for generations of rock and pop royalty.
